One of the toughest things when starting a new business is getting the news out in the public that your are open for business.
The first round of advertising I undertook was an ad in the Central Coast Express Advocate True Local classifieds.
With only one week left on the four week run I can now say what my thoughts are on this form of advertising.
After 3 weeks of a 4 week run on the ad the return has only been 1/10th of the actual costs. In other words, the advertisement has not been successful.
While there has been an increase in phone calls they have not converted to actual customers. Most phone calls have been form other businesses or organisations trying to sell their products to me, or offering me services I don't want to use at this stage.
While the True Local in the Express Advocate was not successful for me and the computer repairs businesses, it might work for other businesses in other fields.
I will continue experimenting with advertising to help promote the business and report here on which advertising campaign is more successful.
After next week I will be dropping all advertising for a week to allow for a new advertising campaign to begin fresh.
