As I continue building the business and meet and answer more
people's questions I begin to see a conflict that appears to to high
prices large businesses charge for new computers.
I have over the
years gained contacts and opportunities from Microsoft that many people
would like to get. As such I have a very strong ethic when it comes to
installing programmes on anybody's computer.
I'm all for free
programmes, in fact I have already posted the always growing collection
of free, and legal programmes on this very site. You can read the list
by clicking here ,
however there are a lot of people who will build a computer for you and
then install an illegal copy of many programmes on the computer for
you. This is wrong in a lot of ways.
1. You are not paying for something you are using. This is the same as theft, in other words it is the same as walking into a store, like Harvey Norman, and walking out with the programme in the box without paying for it.
While you might think it's ok because many large companies can afford to miss a few sales here or there due to their high profits, a drop in sales can lead to programmers being fired. As a person who has written programmes in the past it is hard enough to write a programme from scratch without the thought of somebody deciding you shouldn't be paid anymore for your work because you work for a large company.
2. You will not get he benefits people who paid for it get.
When you buy a piece of software you are nearly always given some benefits for that purchase. It might be as simple as being sent details of discounts or new product releases, or it might be updates that fix problems with the programme, or add even more functionality to the programme that wasn't thought of when the programme was released.
While you might not want to give your money to large companies for programmes because you think they should be free, think about the staff behind the scenes that don't get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars but still work hard to give you all the features you enjoy.
If you do currently have an illegal copy of Windows on your computer you should read the article on replacing it by clicking here . If you want to find free programmes that I recommend you download and try, instead of paying for programmes, or getting them illegally, click here .
There is a free alternative to Windows that you can download and use. While you can download and install it yourself, it is intend more for the strong computer user. The Windows alternative is called Linux and comes in a variety of different packages, all of which are roughly the same, an expansion of the old operating system called Unix. You can read more about Linux by clicking here . I will in the future write an article and make recommendations for Linux options.
To clarify, I will not reinstall, or install any illegal programmes on your computer, nor will I tell you how to do it, it is not worth my reputation.
